The first casting announcement has come in for the World War II set film Overlord, produced by J.J. Abrams. Deadline is reporting that Fences actor Jovan Adepo and Wyatt Russell (At the Devil’s Door) have signed on for duty.
The plot goes like this:
On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.
Julius Avery is in the director’s chair for Overlord which is set to begin filming this May in the UK. Billy Ray penned the script, based off of a shared idea with Abrams. Abrams who will co-produce with Lindsey Weber. Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) was last to edit the script.
