Kong: Skull Island was a big success at the box office and because of that, MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television are teaming up to develop, produce and co-finance a live-action TV adaption, titled King Kong Skull Island, Deadline is reporting.
Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title, the team behind The Bye Bye Man, will be executive producing as well as penning the script which is said to follow a female-driven expedition into Skull Island where they will search for the mysteries it holds. Dannie Festa of World Builder Entertainment will also serve as an executive producer.
Jonathan and Stacy have taken a world that has enraptured audiences in all its many forms over the years and given it a contemporary, female-focused spin,” said MarVista CEO Fernando Szew.
There’s clearly a deep and abiding interest in this timeless story. We love Stacy and Jonathan’s approach to this adaptation and look forward to partnering with MarVista as we bring this gripping tale of survival and adventure to life for a new generation of Kong fans.” Mark Stern IM Global TV president stated.
There is no word yet who will direct, who will star, when we might see the series air, or on which network. But we will keep you posted.
