Jurassic World 2 is now filming in London. Later filming will follow in Hawaii. Producer Frank Marshall reported via Twitter that the filming has now reached the half way mark. With the announcement, he included a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set (below). At first it simply looks like producers chairs in the image, but if you pay close attention to the background you will see what appears to be at least one new dino that will appear in Jurassic World 2.
As for what kind of dinosaur is in the image, the people over at the fan site Jurassic Outpost speculate that is could be a Metriacanthosaurus, one of the species listed on the embryo storage container in Jurassic Park. If you zoom in you will also see a reflection on the glass in the bottom left corner and it appears to be a T-Rex. We reported earlier this month that the original T-Rex, named Rexy by fans, will be appear in Jurassic World 2. Thankfully, director J.A. Bayona has decided to use mostly practical effects like in Jurassic Park.
The second installment stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, B.D. Wong, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwel.
Jurassic World 2 will open in theaters nation-wide on June 22, 2018.
