Netflix is running full steam ahead. For third time in two days we have news from the streaming giant. Word comes today that their prequel series to Henson and Frank Oz’s 1982 classic The Dark Crystal, has a an official title, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Rolling Stone reports.
Set to begin filming this fall, Age of Resistance will be set many years before The Dark Crystal takes place. In the series three Gelfling are tasked with preventing Skeksis from ruling the planet Thra. The three discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power and set out on an epic journey to fan the flames of rebellion and save Thra.
Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) will be in the director’s chair for Age of Resistance. Brian Froud, who served as a conceptual designer for The Dark Crystal, and the Jim Henson Company will create the new cast of fantastical creatures for the series.
While the premiere date has not been announced, Netflix did release a behind-the-scenes teaser for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Check it out.
