It appears that John Wick director Chad Stahelski is gearing up to kick-off a new franchise. The stuntman turned filmmaker has signed on to direct the film adaption of the first book of best-selling author Richard Kadrey’s nine-book fantasy series Sandman Slim, Deadline reports. Studio 8 acquired the rights last year.
“Sandman Slim” is a supernatural vigilante who escapes from Hell to seek revenge for the murder of his girlfriend and the magicians responsible for getting him sent “downtown”.
Kerry Williamson (What Happened to Monday) will be editing the script originally penned by Kel Symons. Patrick Walmsley of LBI Entertainment along with Julie Yorn will produce with John Lester. Studio 8’s Chis Goldberg and Rishi Rajani will oversee the film.
The nine books of the series have been labeled as one Barnes and Noble’s “Best Paranormal Fantasy Novels of the Last Decade.” The 10th book of the Sandman Slim series will be published later this year.
