After lingering in development for what seems like forever, a director for the Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation has been found. Blumhouse announced via Twitter that Chris Columbus will be in the director’s chair.

Columbus is most well known for having a history of directing family-friendly films like Harry Potter, Mrs, Doubtfire, and Home Alone, but he is not new to the horror genre having penned the script for Gremlins.
The upcoming film is based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game which challenges players to survive for five nights. Players are put in the role of a security guard in a pizza restaurant who must survive the possessed animatronic characters who roam the restaurant looking for their next kill. First released back in 2014, the game has had five sequels.
