Gremlins Series Officially On Its Way

A few months back we reported that Warner Bros. and Amblin were considering an adult animated series adaptation of Joe Dante’s Gremlins. We can confirm today that the series has been ordered. The ten-episode series, titled “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai“, will be written and executive produced by Tze Chun (Gotham). Set in 1920’s Shanghai, “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai” will tell the story of how the shop owner Mr. Wing met Gizmo at the age of 10. Together they have all sorts of adventures across the Chinese countryside, including facing off with Gremlins. “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai” will be available in 2020 on WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.

We’re Getting A New ‘Gremlins’ Series

We have good news and we have bad news, so let’s start with the bad. You will soon have to invest in another streaming service. WarnerMedia is kicking off their own streaming service with a new installment of the Gremlins franchise, an animated series. Variety reports that the series, currently in development, is said to be “a period piece that would follow Mr. Wing as a young man as he goes on adventures with the friendly Mogwai Gizmo.” Tze Chun (“Gotham”) is on board to pen the series, which sounds like a prequel to the 1984 original film directed by Joe Dante. Warner Bros. Television and Amblin Television will be producing.

‘Five Night’s At Freddy’s’ Movie Finds Its Director

After lingering in development for what seems like forever, a director for the Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation has been found. Blumhouse announced via Twitter that Chris Columbus will be in the director’s chair. Mr. Columbus, are you ready for Freddy? #FiveNightsatFreddys pic.twitter.com/4F7QEnw16x — Blumhouse (@blumhouse) February 12, 2018 Columbus is most well known for having a history of directing family-friendly films like Harry Potter, Mrs, Doubtfire, and Home Alone, but he is not new to the horror genre having penned the script for Gremlins. The upcoming film is based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game which challenges players to survive for five nights. Players are put in the role of a security guard in a pizza restaurant who must survive the possessed animatronic characters who roam the restaurant looking for their next kill. First released back in 2014, the game has had five sequels.

HorrorHound Weekend – There’s Nothing Like HORROR For The Holidays

Now I know what you’re thinking, my Little Monsters, “wasn’t there a HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis just a month ago?” Yes there was, but the good folks at HorrorHound have decided to return to Columbus, OH and make it a part of their regular annual rotation. So just when you thought all the horror related festivities around Halloween have ended, HorrorHound Weekend keeps them alive by holding another rousing weekend of everything we love to fear at the Crown Plaza Columbus North, just after Halloween, on November 3rd, 4th and 5th. As we make that downhill run towards Christmas, HorrorHound will help kick it off with a Christmas themed convention. There will be celebrity guests from such movies as Gremlins, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Silent Night Deadly Night, Jack Frost, Black Christmas and even A Christmas Story, as well as many other genre favorites. New Poster Unveils Tiny Terrors From ‘Ghastlies’

From Gremlins and Ghoulies, to Critters, Troll, and The Gate, horror movies focused on gangs of mini-monsters were commonplace throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, little to no output has occurred in the subgenre in the decades since. Thankfully, Camp Motion Pictures plans on answering our prayers for pint-sized creeps with Ghastlies, out on DVD, Blu-Ray, and VOD this November. In the meantime, check out this new poster, released today on the official Ghastlies Facebook page. Directed by Brett Kelly (Kingdom of the Vampire, Attack of the Giant Leeches [2008]), and written by Chris Bavota (Minutes Past Midnight), Ghastlies is the tale of three ghoulish creatures accidentally unleashed from an underground bunker by four sorority girls while on a weekend getaway in the country. With the pure-eighties tagline “Pure evil. Bite Sized.”, the film (starring Kim Valentine) is set to be a lot of throwback fun.

Suspension of Disbelief? Sit through this annoying video up until the 5:00 mark. The fan boy “host” in the above video talks in attention deficit tweets. The video uses jump cut “hip” editing to spill out unabashed respect and love for the CGI technique that brought Peter Cushing back from the grave in “Rogue One.” He spends the first five minutes elaborating on the incredible work and effort it took create this digital feat. The “host” proclaims, “I think they pulled it off.” Then, being a true “fan” he takes a swipe at all of the work done by Industrial Light and Magic, effects artist, John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards. “Now Tarkin didn’t look a hundred percent authentic,” the “host” whines, “especially the movement of his mouth, but…he looked better than any other time this has been used.” What movies has this guy made? The New Gremlins Film Will Be….

It was just a matter of time before Gremlins was added to the list of new remakes, or so we thought. Zach Galligan, who played the role of Billy in the original two films, announced that the new Gremlins film will actually be a sequel, not a remake. Galligan told an audience at a recent screening of the 1984 film “It’s not going to be a reboot. It will not be a remake in any way, shape or form. Chris Columbus has come out and said that the first film is very near and dear to his heart and as long as he is alive it will never be remade. So the only thing they will be – and apparently are going to be – doing is something along the lines of like Jurassic World, where it will be 30 years later.” There is no word yet if Galligan will be returning for the new film. Warner Bros. Is Remaking Gremlins

Warner Bros has recently announced that they’ve jumped on the remake bandwagon and are remaking ‘Gremlins’. Carl Ellsworth, the writer of the new ‘Goosebumps’ movie, has signed on to write the remake of the 1984 classic ‘Gremlins’. The original movie’s writer, Christopher Columbus, will serve as producer along Seven Spielberg, who was the original’s executive producer. At this time that’s all we know. In ‘Gremlins’ a teenage boy (Zach Galligan) is given a new exotic pet for Christmas. When he fails to stick to the three rules attached to the cute little critter named Gizmo, a horde of nasty monsters are unleashed on the small town. Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Keye Luke and Corey Feldman starred in ‘Gremlins’.
