The Pet Sematary reboot has added another actor to its roster, John Lithgow. Lithgow has signed on to play the role of the kindly neighbor, Jud Crandall, the man who informs Louis Creed about the Pet Sematary. Jud was originally played by Fred Gwynne who passed away in 1993.
John Lithgow has had so many roles but is probably most recognized for Footloose, Harry and the Hendersons, “3rd Rock from the Sun”, Cliffhanger, “The Crown”, Interstellar, and Daddy’s Home 2.
The lead role of Louis Creed, first played by Dale Midkiff (interview) in the 1989 movie, will be played by Jason Clarke.
The film, set to shoot this summer, is from Starry Eyes filmmakers Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch. Jeff Buhler wrote the script for the new version of one of Stephen King’s most popular tales.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, 1408), Mark Vahradian (Transformers), and Stephen Schneider (Insidious) are producing.
Pet Sematary is set to open in theaters on April 19, 2019.
