Reports are coming in tonight about the plot of this year’s highly-anticipated movie Halloween, meant to be a direct sequel to the original.
In the film, “Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.” Reportedly, this will be Laurie and Michael’s final showdown.
Comicbook.com is reporting that Michael is never referred to by name, only as a “masked figure who has haunted her”, while all of the other films have implied that Laurie and Michael are siblings.
Co-writer Danny McBride has already stated that “We’re kind of ignoring all the films past the first one,” He continued. ““It picks up after the first one, but it’s sort of an alternate reality. It’s as if the first Halloween ended in a slightly different way.”
Virginia “Ginny” Garnder (Marvel’s Runaways), Miles Robbins (My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound), and ‘Stranger Things” Drew Scheid have now joined the cast alongside the previously announced stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer who plays Strodes’ daughter, and Andi Matichak who has been cast as the film’s young lead and Laurie Strodes granddaughter. Nick Castle, the original actor who terrified us as Michael Myers will be returning to don the mask once again. James Jude Courtney will be doing the stunt work for Myers this go-around.
Halloween opens in theaters on October 19, 2018. Gordon Green, who co-wrote the film, will be directing.
