It seems Hollywood’s obsession with remakes shows no sign of slowing. The latest film to be getting a new version is 2003’s hillbilly freak fest Wrong Turn, which spawned six sequels.
Fans of the franchise can sigh a small breath of relief though because franchise creator Alan McElroy is writing the new script and The Domestics’ Mike P. Nelson will be in director’s chair.
The new version is described as “a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues. A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.”
Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer will be producing with Martin Moszkowicz executive producing.
In the original film, six people find themselves trapped in the woods of West Virginia, hunted down by cannibalistic mountain men, disfigured by generations of inbreeding.
