It’s been ten years since zombie fans were introduced to Zombieland. Now, the sequel is finally on its way.
We’ve reported that the main cast, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin, are returning to their roles. Today, we have more casting news. According to GWW, Bill Murray will also be back, but he’s not coming alone. The site is reporting that Murray’s fellow Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd has also joined the cast of Zombieland 2. While their roles are still unknown, it is said that the two will be playing fictional versions of themselves, which is odd seeing that Murray’s character died in the first film.
We also know that several new characters have also been added, Reno, TB, Cleveland, Madison. Avan Jogia will play the role of Berkley. Zoe Deutch will star as one of the new characters, though we are not sure which one.
Part two is said to center on the group as they try to find Little Rock after she runs away. Columbus, Tallahassee, and Witchita set out on a journey across the country to hopefully find Little Rock and save her from certain death.
Reportedly, the zombies have been replaced by “super zombies” that are giant, beefed-up and hard to kill. “The horde of super zombies has been roaming from town to town leaving complete destruction in their wake. It’s up to the gang to put an end to the bloodshed or face extinction themselves.”
Zombieland director Ruben Fleisher is returning to the director’s chair for the sequel that is set to open in theaters nationwide in October of 2019.
