It feels like every day we are reporting or giving an update on another Stephen King adaptation (not that we are complaining). Today we have an update on Amazon Studios’ upcoming series adaptation of King’s The Dark Tower.

According to That Hashtag Show, the series is set to begin production this April in Croatia and will have a 13-episode first season.

Casting is still being kept hush, hush at this point but it will be interesting to see who is cast in the roles of  Roland and Walter.

The 2017 movie starred Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, and while it had King’s support before the PG-13 release, after it opened in theaters he got very quiet. By the end of it, The Dark Tower only scored a mere 16 on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans were let down due to the amount of story that was left out due to time constraints and the way that everything was rushed to try to fit in as much as possible. Trying to cram a multi-book series into one film rarely works well. The new series will take a different approach, giving the story the time it needs to evolve, for character development, and the time to explore the amount of the books’ mythology it deserves.
