Hollywood’s obsession with remakes has struck again. Another remake of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper’s supernatural horror classic Poltergeist is headed our way. This go around it’s from Marvel’s Joe and Anthony Russo who has been given the go-ahead to do what they will with MGM’s library.
Deadline is reporting that the remake will be developed, produced, and financed by the filmmakers who have delivered some of Marvel’s best films including Captain America: Civil War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and this summer’s Avengers: Endgame.
This isn’t the first time someone has remade Poltergeist. Back in 2015, a new version came from director Gil Kenan and was met with mixed reviews. In that version, a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces must come together to rescue their youngest daughter after the apparitions take her captive.
While there is no word about the remake’s cast, we have our fingers crossed that some of the Avengers cast might appear.
