Chris Rock Teaming Up With Lionsgate For New ‘Saw’ Movie

Funnyman Chris Rock is making his horror debut by teaming up with Lionsgate for a new installment of one of the largest and most successful horror franchises, Saw. I’ve been a fan of ‘Saw’ since the first film in 2004,” said Rock in a Lionsgate release. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.” The idea for the spin-off came from Rock himself who approached Lionsgate with the idea for the still-untitled film. The screenplay will be written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, based on Rock’s story. Omar Epps Hunts A Killer In First Image From ‘Trick’ – From The Director Of ‘My Bloody Valentine’

Genre veteran Patrick Lussier has released the first image and comments for his latest film, the horror thriller Trick, featuring Omar Epps who leads the cast in the main role of Detective Mike Denver, a man obsessed with a serial killer that has remained one step ahead of him for years. Trick also stars Ellen Adair (Showtime’s “Homeland” and “Billions,” USA’s “The Sinner”) as Sheriff Lisa Jayne, the sheriff in the small town of Benton who has always considered Detective Denver as her mentor. Cheryl Winston, the only survivor of the latest round of killings in her small town, is played by Kristina Reyes (“Blindspot,” “Shades of Blue”). Talbott is played by frequent George A. New Clip Arrives Ahead World Premiere Of ‘Vivarium’ At Cannes

Ahead of director Lorcan Finnegan‘s (Without Name) sci-fi thriller Vivarium making its world premiere this weekend as part of Cannes Critics’ Week Section, we have a clip to share with you that features Imogen Poots (Green Room) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland) having a very strange encounter with a real estate agent. This July Lionsgate Home Entertainment is set to release Rock Paper Scissors (formerly known as Rock Paper Dead) on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. From legendary director Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’s Play), and writers Kerry Fleming (interview) and Victor Miller (Friday the 13th, interview) comes this thrilling film about a released serial killer and a mission of revenge. Bruce Campbell Says We Haven’t Seen The Last Of ‘Evil Dead’ Universe

Last year we talked with Bruce Campbell (interview) about life after retiring his character Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise. Recently, that seems to have changed. Campbell was recently out promoting his upcoming hosting duties for “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” and teased that the Evil Dead universe is far from over. They’re going to see different versions, they’re going to be seeing more ‘Evil Dead,’ too. We’re not done with the ‘Evil Dead’ saga, more stories to tell.” The question is, what does he mean? IFC Midnight Set To Release Frankenstein Adaptation ‘Depraved’ This Fall

IFC Midnight announced today that it has acquired the U.S. rights to Larry Fessenden‘s modern Brooklyn-set Frankenstein adaptation, Depraved. Starring David Call (The Sinner), Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project), Alex Breaux (Bushwick), Ana Kayne (Another Earth), Chloë Levine (The Transfiguration, The Ranger), and Addison Timlin (The Town That Dreaded Sundown), the film made its world premiered in March at the IFC Center’s WhatTheFest?! and can next be seen at The Overlook Film Festival in New Orleans, before making its international premiere at Sydney Film Festival next month. Fessenden, who heads the celebrated indie horror production house Glass Eye Pix, wrote the film as well as produced alongside Jenn Wexler and Chadd Harbold.
