Sound the alarm, director Jan de Bont’s 1996 action-adventure/disaster blockbuster Twister is getting a remake by Universal Pictures.

Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) is currently in talks to direct “and the studio is currently meeting with writers to pen the script.” Variety reports.

The original film centers on Bill and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton), advanced storm chasers on the brink of divorce, must join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes.

Frank Marshall will be producing the remake of  Twister, which made an incredible $495 million at box offices and went on to earn two Academy Awards nominations.
