Jordan Peele‘s next project, Sinkhole features a terror emerging from a pit in a family’s yard. The horror movie, coming from Universal Pictures, was created by Issa Rae (Insecure) and the Oscar-winner (Peele).
Rae, who received three Emmy nominations yesterday, will also star in the film inspired by Leyna Krow’s short story, set on the street she lives on. She was initially inspired to write the story when her group of local writers were asked to write short fairytales on the theme ‘I Married A Monster’. The story explores themes and questions society’s ideas of female identity and perfection.
It is described as a “thought-provoking genre piece that engages with questions of female perfection and identity,” by Deadline. “The mysterious sinkhole manages to fix broken and destroyed things. However, the story asks, what if that thing is a person?”
Rae will produce along with Universal and Peele’s Monkeypaw. Peele will also produce with Rosenfeld, with Rae, Montrel McKay, and Sara Rastogi of Issa Rae Productions.
