Netflix has just made a massive, record-breaking $55 million deal at the European Film Market to obtain director Scott Cooper‘s (Antlers) upcoming Gothic horror-thriller The Pale Blue Eye, starring Oscar-winning American Psycho and The Dark Knight actor Christian Bale.
In the 1830 set film, Bale plays the role of a veteran detective investigating a series of murders at the West Point Academy. He’s is helped by a young cadet who will later become the famous author Edgar Allen Poe.
Cooper also penned the script that is based on Louis Bayard’s novel. Bale produces with Cooper, John Lesher (Birdman), Tyler Thompson, and Cross Creek (The Trial Of The Chicago 7).
