The world on Netflix’s hit game-based series “The Witcher” is expanding with a prequel series, titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin.”

Deadline is reporting that “Game of Thrones” and “Vikings” actor Laurence O’Fuarain has been cast in the lead role of Fjall. Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen and Slim) will play the other lead character, Eile.

“Born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King, Fjall carries a deep scar within, the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.”

The new six-part limited series is set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of “The Witcher” and will center on the creation of the first Witcher and the events that lead to the  “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged and became one.

Declan de Barra is executive producing and will serve as Showrunner.  Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will also executive produce along with Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Films.
