On December 9th, 2001 in Durham, North Carolina, Kathleen Peterson’s life was ended. According to the 911 call, she was found by her husband Michael Peterson at the bottom of a staircase in their home. He was soon charged with first-degree murder after law enforcement declared her death was a murder and that Michael had beaten her to death. He was found guilty at trial, and sentenced to life in prison. Eight years later, he was granted a new trial.
“The Staircase” is set to make its premiere this May on HBO Max.
