New Horror Movies To Watch This Weekend (April Week 2)

Five new horror films are out this week that you need to see, so, put on your comfy pants, grab a bag of popcorn, and get ready for a ton of thrills and chills.

 

First up is Ti West’s new frightening flick, X which is finally out on VOD. In the film, set in 1979, “a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast soon finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.”

 

 

The next movie is Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, the action-packed zombie flick.  The third film of the Wyrmwood franchise is set in the zombie-infested Australian wasteland where a soldier named Rhys (Luke Mckenzie) has dedicated his life to tracking and capturing survivors in hopes of finding a cure. Rhys teams up with a group of super-powered survivors to save a young woman from death by military experimentation.

 

 

The Cellar (review) tells the story of Keira Woods (Elisha Cuthbert), whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. Keira soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.

Tubi and the Asylum have teamed up for Titanic 666, which is free to watch on Tubi along with nearly 5,000 other horror films.

 

“One hundred and ten years after its namesake’s deadly journey, the Titanic III is fated to repeat one of history’s greatest disasters. A faithful replica of the original, the mammoth cruise ship is safeguarded with the most advanced technology to assure clear passage on its maiden voyage for the famous influencers, historical enthusiasts, and excited travelers on board. But a nightmare is about to unfold, as unbeknownst to all, there is a stowaway amongst them with vengeful intentions to channel dark forces still at sea. As the ship halts over the surface of the original gravesite, crew, and passengers are terrorized by hauntings from the past.”

 

 

Ahead of his debut on this season of “Stranger Things”, Robert Englund stars in Netflix’s Choose or Die. After a young coder (Iola Evans) fires up a lost 80s survival horror game she unleashes a hidden curse that tears reality apart, forcing her to make terrifying decisions and face deadly consequences.

 

 

A pair of friends must fight to survive their new home in Room 203. Japan’s Ammo Inc., California-based Ammo Entertainment, and Vertical Entertainment have just announced the limited theatrical and VOD release of Ben Jagger‘s Room 203, based on the J-horror novel by Nanami Kamon.

 

“After lifelong friends, Kim and Izzy move into Room 203, a quirky apartment with a creepy medieval stained glass window, Kim slowly becomes convinced that their new home may be haunted. With help from her new boyfriend Ian, Kim investigates the tortured history of the apartment, discovering a string of disappearances of former residents, a murder mystery from half a century ago, and an ancient curse that threatens to possess Izzy and kill Kim.”

 

 

While searching for the parents she never knew, a young woman (Scout Taylor-Compton) returns to her childhood stomping grounds with her boyfriend to investigate her family’s whereabouts in the terrifying horror-thriller The Long Night (review), out now on DVD.

 

 

The vampire horror-comedy Let the Wrong One In is out now on Digital. The film centers on young supermarket worker Matt, who is a little too nice for his own good. When he discovers that his older, estranged brother Deco has turned into a vampire, he’s faced with a dilemma: Will he risk his own life to help his sibling, with blood being thicker than water? Or will he stake him before he spreads the infection further?
