Fans were sad to see “Supernatural” end after fifteen seasons, but fans also know when that when it comes to the epic story of the Winchesters nothing really ever ends. Back in June of last year, we reported that a new spin-off prequel series “The Winchesters,” which centers on Sam and Dean’s parents, had been greenlit by CW. Today, we have an update.

Daneel Ackles, wife of Jansen (aka Dean) has now shared a post on Instagram confirming that the series has wrapped filming on the first season in New Orleans. The image also serves as the first look at the series.

Meg Donnelly (American Housewife) has been cast as a young Mary Winchester with Drake Rodger (The In between) playing Sam and Dean’s father John. The two join Jensen Ackles who has long played Dean, and who will serve as the series’ narrator.

The series will explore Mary and John’s epic love story and how they fought not only to protect themselves and their family but from the world as well from monsters and demons. Mary is being described as a 19-year-old who has “been fighting the forces of darkness for most of her life. After losing someone close to her, she considers quitting the family business – until her father’s disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John Winchester forces her to lead a new team.”

“Supernatural’s” Robbie Thompson serves as writer and executive producer with Ackles and his wife Danneel Ackles executive producing the pilot under their banner Chaos Machine Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios.
