While fans are waiting for next year’s release of Scream 6, franchise star Neve Campbell has joined the cast of Peacock‘s upcoming live-action adaptation of the “Twisted Metal” gaming franchise to play the role of Raven, described as “a gothic girl who’s put in the Asylum after witnessing her friend’s death by drowning. From this day forward, she wants to get even at the two guys who caused it.”
Campbell joins Stephanie Beatriz (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Thomas Haden Church (Sideways), and Anthony Mackie (Captain America franchise) for the series about a “motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”
“Anthony Mackie stars as John Doe, a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.”.
“Twisted Metal is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick about a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”
Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”) will both write and show-run the “Twisted Metal” series, from Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
