To celebrate its 4oth anniversary, John Carpenter’s classic The Thing is returning to theaters this June for a limited time, courtesy of Fandom Events. Carpenter made the announcement himself on social media, saying “I loved making this movie, and I’m so excited that people can celebrate it and see it in theaters 40 years later,”
In the brilliant film, “A research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.”
Featuring ground-breaking effects for its time from Rob Bottin, The Thing stars Kurt Russell, Keith David, Wilford Brimley, Richard Masur, T.K. Carter, and more.
