HBO Max’s dark series Spanish series “30 Coins” returns this year for its second season. The first trailer has been unleashed via Twitter and teases that we’re going to hell this season. The trailer was released on Twitter along with the announcement that the show will return this October.
Directed by Álex de la Iglesia (The Day of the Beast, Witching & Bitching, The Last Circus), HBO Max’s “30 Coins” takes viewers into a world where nothing is what it seems, and no one can be trusted. De la Iglesia co-writes the series along with Jorge Guerricaechevarria.
The first season centers on Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández), an ex-convict turned exorcist, who the church sends to a remote town in Spain. Strange things begin to happen as his past and old enemies come back to haunt him.
An unlikely task force forms as Mayor Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and local vet Elena (Megan Montaner) seek the truth. At the same time, reality is distorted by a cursed coin at the heart of a global conspiracy.
De Iglesia also serves as an executive producer for Pokeepsie Films alongside Carolina Bang. Steve Matthews, Miguel Salvat, and Antony Root executive produce for HBO Max.
All eight episodes of “30 Coins” season one are now streaming on HBO Max. Tune in this October for season two of the dark and twisted series.
