Fans of the Alien franchise are in for a treat. Not only is Fede Alvarez making a new movie, but the franchise is also getting a new TV series from FX and today we have some casting news.
It has already been confirmed that Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) will star. Deadline is now reporting that The Babadook star Essie Davis has now come on board to join Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World), Samuel Blenkin (“Black Mirror”), and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger).
Deadline also reports that “Production began Wednesday, July 19, at The Studio Park [in Thailand] with crew filming scenes that don’t include SAG-affiliated actors.” This is due to the current writer and actor strike.
Creator Noah Hawley’s (“Fargo”) new take on the classic franchise is being described as both an “extension and reinvention” of the films that have come before it, just without Ellen Ripley. FX states, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”

Last we heard, Ridley Scott is set to produce the new series that should be out sometime in 2024.
