One of the most highly anticipated horror films of the year is Universal’s vampire tale, The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Today, we’ve got the new featurette that gives you a chilling look at the film guided by its director André Øvredal, its cast, and more.
The movie is based on a single chilling chapter, “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, and tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London.
André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) is at the helm of the film written by Bragi Schut. Zak Olkewicz (Bullet Train) wrote the script’s latest version.
The Last Voyage also stars Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, Straight Outta Compton) as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, and Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones, The Nightingale) as an unwitting stowaway. Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans) as the ship’s captain, and David Dastmalchian (Dune, the Ant-Man franchise) as the ship’s first mate. Javier Botet stars as Dracula.
The film is produced by Brad Fischer and Oscar®-nominated producers Mike Medavoy and Arnold Messer for Phoenix Pictures and is executive produced by Matthew Hirsch. The film comes from DreamWorks Pictures and the Zodiac and Black Swan producers.
Head to theaters on August 11, 2023, to watch The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
