The actors’ and writers’ strike has finally ended. Now, studios can get back to the business of keeping us entertained. God knows we need a distraction from the current chaos in the world.

One of the first new movie announcements is from Sony Pictures, which has now revealed the release date for Venom 3, opening in theaters on Friday, November 8, 2024. Like many films, the sequel began production earlier this year but got shut down due to the writer’s and actors’ strikes.

So what’s it about? The plot for Venom 3 is still being kept quiet but should pick up following the events of Venom 2, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Tom Hardy stated. “These things [usually] come in threes,” Hardy stated. “If there’s going to be a new one – and they depend heavily on the success of each individual one, so you can’t count on them ever happening again – everyone has got to be as if it was the last one. But I think it’s really important if you go into something thinking that one, two, and three are the same… the same story, the same film. So that you don’t surprise yourself by being caught out by suddenly having to do a third from nowhere. There’s got to be some continuity into a third and fourth and fifth, and if somebody says ‘no’, that’s fine. Let it go, and you move on to something else.”

Hardy returns as Eddie in Venow 3, directed by Kelly Marcel. Hardy shares writing credit with Marcel for the action-packed sequel that also stars Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Venom 3 is just one of several films we can expect next year from the Spider-Man universe. Madam Web, starring Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts, which centers on a clairvoyant mutant, is set to premiere in February, with the long-awaited movie Kraven the Hunter finally arriving in August of 2024. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can watch Venom and Venom 2 now on Disney+ and rent them on most services.

Here’s a look back at the trailer for Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, which saw Eddie and Venom face off against serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution.
