From filmmaker William Bell, the director who brought you The Boy and Orphan: First Kill, comes a new stunning tale of terror, Lord of Misrule.
The film follows “Rebecca Holland (Tuppence Middleton), who has recently taken over as priest of a small town. When her young daughter Grace (Evie Templeton) goes missing at the local harvest festival, a desperate search begins. The closer they edge towards finding Grace, the more secrets emerge from the town’s dark past. Soon, Rebecca must decide just how much she is willing to sacrifice to rescue her daughter from the grip of evil.”
Starring Tuppence Middleton, Ralph Ineson, Matt Stokoe, and Evie Templeton, the film, written by Tom de Ville, is produced by Nik Bower, Deepak Nayar, Jason Newmark, Laurie Cook, William Brent Bell, James Tomlinson, and Alison Brister. Executive producers include Mark Fielding, Laura Brook, John Gleeson, Oisín O’Neill, Stephen Kelliher, and Yana Georgieva.
“I wanted to create a film that was visually striking and would take the viewer into a uniqueworld. The village’s harvest festival allowed us to establish a rich autumnal color palette. Asour story turns darker, so too does our world,” William Brent Bell said about the dark and disturbing film. “What starts as charming pagan imagery becomes disturbing and dangerous. I wanted to create an atmosphere of in escapable dread as the village turns against Rebecca. Her feelings of isolation and fearbecome terror and violence.”
Lorde of Misrule will make its debut in Los Angeles on December 5, 2023, with a wide release to follow from Magnolia Pictures. Watch the new trailer below.
