The upcoming Scream sequel has already experienced trouble with the departures of actresses Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega and director Christopher Landon. But today, we have some good news. Even though she was missing from Scream 6, legendary Scream final girl Neve Campbell has confirmed that she is returning to reprise her role. The announcement came via social media (below). But the question remains: Will it be enough to save the sequel, which Landon called a “nightmare?”
A New Director
Kevin Williamson, the original writer of the first two Scream films, is taking the helm as director. Fans can expect a return to the franchise’s core elements. His understanding of the characters and the overall mythology promises a thrilling experience that both honors the legacy of past films and injects fresh scares for a new generation.
Radio Silence Returns
While the directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence, won’t be directing this installment, they’ll remain on board as executive producers. Their successful revival of the franchise with Scream (2022) ensures their continued creative influence on the series.
When Will It Premiere?
Although an official release date for Scream 7 has yet to be announced, speculations point towards a late 2025 premiere. We’ll keep you posted as more details surface. In the meantime, you can find Scream 6 streaming on Paramount+.
