Fans of Emily Hampshire, best known for her award-winning comedic role in the hit series “Schitt’s Creek,” will see her in a terrifying new light this year in the upcoming horror film Mom.

Deadline reports that Uncork’d Entertainment has secured North American rights to this chilling tale following its world premiere at the Glasgow FrightFest.

The film delves into the psychological torment of a struggling mother, played by Hampshire, who faces abandonment by her family and partner after a horrific incident. As she descends deeper into isolation and depression, a sinister entity begins to haunt her, forcing her to confront the darkest corners of her mind. Will she overcome the horrors that haunt her, or will her past consume her entirely?

Directed by Adam O’Brien (Nightmare Radio) and written by Philip Kalin-Hajdu (Game of  Death), the movie boasts a talented cast alongside Hampshire. François Arnaud, known for his role in “Marlowe,” and rising star Christian Convery, fresh off his appearance in Cocaine Bear, add further depth to the film. Delirium Pictures and Kinetic Film Group round out the production team.

Get ready to see Emily Hampshire in a new way when the edge-of-your-seat horror movie Mom chills audiences later this year. We’ll let you know the release date as soon as it is announced. In the meantime, you can also see Hampshire in the upcoming survival horror-thriller Humane from director Caitlin Cronenberg.
