With their upcoming horror film, The Deliverance, Netflix is set to unleash a terrifying tale inspired by real-life events. The film, based on the infamous “Demon House” case that gripped the nation in 2011, promises to be a chilling exploration of the paranormal.

At the heart of The Deliverance is the harrowing experience of Latoya Ammons and her family. Their Gary, Indiana, home became a living nightmare when unexplained and terrifying occurrences began to plague their lives. From children levitating to speaking in demonic voices, the family endured unimaginable horrors. The situation escalated to such a degree that it drew the attention of authorities, including a police officer, a nurse, and a child protective services caseworker, all of whom witnessed firsthand the inexplicable phenomena.

Desperate for answers, Latoya turned to the church, seeking solace and deliverance. A Catholic priest was called in to perform an exorcism, a decision born out of desperation as other attempts to cleanse the house had failed. The priest would perform three exorcisms in their home, which Zak Bagans eventually purchased. He made a documentary about it before demolishing the house. You can watch the doc for free on Tubi.

The Deliverance features an all-star cast that brings this terrifying tale to life. From acclaimed director Lee Daniels, the movie stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Omar Epps, Caleb McLaughlin, Demi Singleton, and Mo’Nique. With such a talented group of actors, expectations are high for The Deliverance to be a film that captures the fear and desperation experienced by the Ammons family.

The Deliverance promises to be a haunting film you won’t soon forget. The good news is that you won’t have to wait long to watch it. The movie premieres exclusively on Netflix on August 30, 2024.
