From director E.L. Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor) comes the gripping new horror film Azreal, starring Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving and Natathan Stweart-Jarrett. The movie sees Weaving unite with writer Simon Barrett (The Guest, You’re Next).
The new trailer reveals a pulse-pounding film set after the rapture. It is a chilling tale of survival and sacrifice in a world where no one speaks. A mysterious, devout community hunts down a young woman named Azrael (Samara Weaving), who has escaped their imprisonment. Azrael, recaptured by its ruthless leaders, is to be sacrificed to appease an evil that resides deep within the wilderness – but Azrael will stop at nothing to ensure her freedom and survival. An immersive, real-time horror film comes from the seeds of this gritty, relentless parable of sacrifice and salvation.
Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan’s C2 Motion Picture Group won the rights to the hot project in a competitive bidding situation last fall and fully financed and produced the film.
Dan Kagan (California King), Dave Caplan (Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), and Simon Barrett are producers. Jason Cloth (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and Katrin Kissa (Captain Volkogonov Escaped) executive produce.
With its intense action, suspenseful atmosphere, and chilling premise, Azrael promises to be a must-watch for horror fans. It opens in select theaters on September 27 from IFC Films and Shudder.
