As a newcomer to the world of tabletop gaming which includes the vast and complex world of Wargaming, your imagination can only take you so far with picturing the world you’re making yourself enter. Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have now brought the world of Warhammer and the chaos of its wars to life in the highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 where the story of the famed Ultramarine Demetrian Titus continues.

In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Captain Titus, now given the rank of Lieutenant, is on the road to redemption after years of accusations of hearsay. Titus and his chapter of Ultramarines face off against the invading force of Tyrinads, insectoid creatures who aligned themselves with Chaos.

Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 if you’re used to playing third-person action games, you’ll be able to learn these controls quickly, but if not don’t worry, there’s a tutorial!

Headphones are a must for this game as the sound design and mixing are possibly one of the best I’ve heard in a while! The voice acting is great, and the soundtrack really puts you into the Warhammer world!

The game’s art and graphics are worthy of any codex (rule/playbooks for the tabletop game) and the fact they have a photo mode is great for fans to capture incredible scenes! The picture above was taken with the Photo Mode where I had Titus wearing his helmet.

When it comes to gameplay, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is part hack-and-slash and part shooter. Certain enemies you’re facing can be fought in a one-on-one fight where you have to parry and dodge attacks before finishing them off in a bloody mess! You can play alone or team up with friends to play the main campaign, my review is based on my experience playing by myself with Bot teammates, and I have to say, Saber and Focus are good at making bot teammates!

Whether you’re a fan of the world of Warhammer, just getting started, or are a casual gamer who’s curious about that world, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a good way to break yourself into it! I have not played the first Space Marine game but the way this one is playing out, I don’t feel like I’m missing much of the plot as this game is not treating you like you should already know everything.

On my scale of 1-10, I give Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 a 9.5 as overall the game is amazing, some of the combat mechanics could use some polishing.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be coming out on September 9th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Owners of the Gold and Ultra Editions can play now!
