Can we just be honest? It seems like pretty much every beloved horror film and series is getting a remake, reboot, or reimagining. From The Crow to American Psycho to the iconic series “The X-Files,” nothing appears to be sacred. Now, a reboot of Joe Dante’s classic horror comedy The ‘Burbs is coming, this time in the form of a TV series from Peacock.

You may wonder who has been cast in the lead. According to Variety, it’s Nope star Keke Palmer. The site also reports that Celeste Hughey (“Palm Royale,” “Dead to Me,” “High Fidelity”) is adapting the 1989 film for TV.

The series, a modern take, is set in suburbia. “The ‘Burbs” follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. “Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”

Seth MacFarlane of “Family Guy,” Ted, and “The Orville” fame will executive produce with Brian Grazer for Imagine Entertainment. Palmer will also serve as executive producer.

In the classic, an overworked and overstressed man and his neighbors become convinced that their new neighbors are killers, and chaos follows. Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Rick Ducommun, Bruce Dern,  and Corey Feldman star in the fun flick.

Watch the movie’s trailer below while we wait for more news on the series. If you haven’t seen the original, we highly recommend that you do so ASAP. It’s free on YouTube.
