Djimon Hounsou, star of A Quiet Place Part II, Quiet Place: Day One, and Guardians of the Galaxy, has found his next role. Hounsou will next star in The Monster, an upcoming horror thriller. The film is from the team behind the Saw franchise. Mark Burg is producing, and Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, IV) is directing. Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the duo who wrote Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane, penned the script for The Monster.
The film centers on two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret. Soon, the apartment owner flips their game on them with terrifying consequences.
Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road) are producing alongside Burg. They had this to say about the film and its star, Djimon Hounsou: “We love finding new ways into horror, and when we read The Monster, we knew it was special. With Djimon and the minds behind one of horror’s biggest franchises, genre fans are in for something fresh and scary.”
Principle photography on The Monster is set to kick off production in November 2024 in Connecticut.
