I don’t know about you, but one of the horror movies I’m most looking forward to in 2025 is Osgood Perkins’ adaptation of Stephen King’s The Monkey, a story initially featured in the collection The Skeleton Crew. The new Red Band trailer is here! It’s bloody, brutal, and looks fucking fantastic!

The film  recently received a hard R-rating for “strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.” And it isn’t much of a surprise. After all, it is from the minds of King and Perkins, who is also behind 2024’s Longlegs.

The Monkey sees Emmy-nominated actor Theo James (Divergent) playing the dual role of twin brothers Hal and Bill. When they unearth a childhood toy, a wave of brutal deaths begins to plague them. Determined to break the curse, the brothers must confront the Monkey’s sinister power before it claims everything they hold dear.

Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) join James. The strong supporting cast includes Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.

Horror maestro James Wan (The Conjuring, M3GAN, and its upcoming spin-off SOULM8TE) is the film’s producer alongside Michael Clear.

Don’t monkey around and miss this movie when it premieres in theaters on February 21, 2025, from NEON. Watch the new trailer now, but here’s a warning: It is NSFW!
