The most highly anticipated horror film of the year, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, has come home on an extended cut and is a must-see take on an iconic story.

In the film, Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen wrestles with anguish as Count Orlok’s (Bill Skarsgård) spell pulls her in. Those who love her seek help from Willem Dafoe’s Professor Von Franz, but is it too late? Meanwhile, bloodcurdling imagery and a city gripped by fear paint a vivid picture of the horrors to come.

Nicholas Hoult stars as Ellen’s betrothed, Thomas, destined to be the first to encounter the ominous figure. Ralph InesonAaron Taylor-Johnson, and Emma Corrin round out the impressive cast.

Eggers envisions a portrayal that pays homage to the legendary performances of Max Schreck and Klaus Kinski while carving its unique path in cinema history.

Nosferatu marks the continuation of the successful partnership between Focus Features and Eggers. This duo previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed film The Northman (2022), starring Bill Skarsgård’s older brother Alexander. The project reunites Eggers with celebrated producer Chris Columbus.

In my review, I called Nosferatu “a masterpiece of gothic horror.” Although it is now available to rent or own, I highly recommend adding the extended cut to your collection. You can get it now from services such as Apple TV and Prime Video. Love the dark ambiance of Nosferatu? Get your copy of the soundtrack on vinyl now.
