A star-studded cast has assembled for the sci-fi thriller Eyes in the Trees, a modern reimagining of H.G. Wells’s The Island of Doctor Moreau. The film boasts a talented ensemble cast. Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars alongside Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann, Praya Lundberg, and Adam Ambruso. The film is headlined by two-time Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs).

The film follows a journalist and his crew as they venture into an isolated forest. However, they quickly find their expedition transformed into a desperate fight for survival. Vince Henway (Meyers) and his former protégé-turned-ex, Channing Arneau (Greene), lead their team into the heart of Monkey Ko, an island off the coast of Thailand also known as “The Island of Death.” Local legends speak of forgotten government medical experiments and genetic manipulations by the enigmatic Dr. Addis (Hopkins). However, what they discover on the island surpasses their wildest imaginations, a product of nightmares.

Eyes in the Trees will be directed by Emmy Award winner Timothy Woodward Jr. (Studio City, Til Death Do Us Part). B. Harrison Smith, Mike Manning, and Dominic Burns adapted the story.

The film is produced by Daemon Hillinof Hillin Entertainment, Simon Williams of Ashland Hill, and Artisha Mann-Cooper of Artman Cooper Productions. Mike Manning will also serve as a producer.

Director Woodward Jr. expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Having the opportunity to work closely with the legendary Sir Anthony Hopkins and the rest of this incredible cast is a true honor. It has been deeply inspiring, and I’m genuinely grateful for the experience. I look forward to sharing this film with audiences, knowing it’s being shaped by such remarkable talents in front of and behind the camera.”

Ashland Hill’s Managing Partner Simon Williams added, “Eyes in the Trees is a bold, twisted, elevated-genre film with a brilliant ensemble cast, including the incomparable Anthony Hopkins. We look forward to introducing global audiences to this chilling and creative reimagining seen through Timothy’s unique vision.”

Eyes in the Trees is not the first adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic. In 1996, the directing duo of John Frankenheimer and Richard Stanley brought The Island of Doctor Moreau to the big screen. It starred Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer. The film was panned by critics and viewers alike and earned Brando a Razzie Award (not a good thing). You can watch it now on Roku and Apple TV.
