Get ready for a wild ride back to 1987 Oakland! Freaky Tales, a vibrant and edgy new film, is set to unleash a mixtape of colorful characters onto the big screen. This isn’t your typical trip down memory lane. This is a fever dream of showdowns and battles packed with explosive action, dark humor, gore, and unexpected twists.

Imagine a collision of diverse personalities: an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a dynamic female rap duo, teen punks, a group of neo-Nazis, and a debt collector that is just trying to get paid. These seemingly disparate individuals find themselves on a collision course, their lives intertwining in surprising, bloody, and often hilarious ways.

Freaky Tales boasts an all-star ensemble cast, including the ever-charismatic Pedro Pascal (“Last of Us“), the versatile Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, the late Angus Cloud, and the legendary Tom Hanks. This impressive lineup promises a dynamic mix of performances, adding depth and nuance to the film’s intriguing characters.

This fun flick is written and directed by the acclaimed duo of Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, known for their work on Captain Marvel and Sugar. Their combined talent suggests a film that will be both visually compelling and narratively rich. Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Jelani Johnson, and Poppy Hanks produce. Hip-hop pioneer Too $hort, a legend in the Oakland music scene, serves as executive producer. Jillian Share, Jen Gorton, Charles D. King, James Lopez, Justin Bursch, Victor Moyers, Todd Anthony Shaw, and David Weintraub also serve as executive producers.

Freaky Tales hits theaters on April 4, 2025. Don’t miss it!
