Today at Nacon Connect, fans of the works of Lovecraft and his monstrous creation Cthulhu were treated with the announcement of two new games that take place or are influenced by the Cthulhu mythos.
First, we have Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss from Big Bad Wolf, a first-person investigative adventure where players are put into the role of Noah, an agent of Ancile, a secret Interpol division specializing in occult cases, along with his AI partner Key. Noah is sent to the ocean floor of the Pacific where deep-sea miners have gone missing only to end up being trapped in the labyrinth of R’lyeh. Noah will have to solve puzzles as he investigates, make decisions that can influence the outcome of the game, and try to not fall under the influence of Cthulhu himself. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is slated to be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Next, we have Ace Team’s first-person shooter as a Conquesador in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. Inspired by Lovecraft’s novella The Mound, where players can team up with up to four other conquistadors on an expedition to discover a legendary underground city rumored to hold priceless treasures.
Players will have to protect themselves and each other from otherworldly hallucinations and creatures in the stifling jungle of the new world as they look for treasure and make it back to their Gallion, sane…and alive. The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu will be coming out this year (2025) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
