A chilling tale of homecoming and ancient evils is about to unfold. Ryan Coogler, the visionary director behind Black Panther, is unleashing his latest creation, Sinners, upon theaters next month. The film has officially received its “R” rating from the MPA. Prepare for a visceral and unsettling experience with “Strong bloody violence, sexual content and language.”
Michael B. Jordan takes on the challenging task of portraying dual roles in Sinners, a film Warner Bros. is touting as “a new vision of fear from Ryan Coogler.” This project marks a departure for Coogler, exploring the horror genre with a unique and genre-fluid approach. He reportedly drew inspiration from classics like From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, and the works of John Carpenter.
Sinners centers on twin brothers, played by Jordan. They seek to escape their troubled pasts by returning to their hometown. However, their hopes are quickly shattered. Soon, they discover that a far greater evil awaits them, eager to welcome them back into its fold.
Joining Michael B. Jordan in this chilling endeavor is a stellar cast, including Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Wunmi Mosaku (Passenger), and Jayme Lawson (The Woman King). Omar Benson Miller (True Lies) and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) co-star.
Coogler has assembled a dream team of exceptional behind-the-camera talent, many of whom he collaborated with on the Black Panther franchise. This includes director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter.
With its R-rating and Coogler’s unique vision, audiences can expect a dark, thrilling film they can really sink their teeth into when it opens in theaters on April 18, 2025.
