Good news for fans of quiet terror! After two movies, a spinoff/prequel, and a video game, the world of A Quiet Place is expanding once again. We’ve just learned that John Krasinski is officially returning to write, direct, and produce A Quiet Place: Part III!
What We Know So Far
Last we heard, this third installment in the central A Quiet Place line would likely continue the Abbott family storyline. Emily Blunt is expected to return for Part III; however, that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
The first film (written and directed by Krisinski) depicts a family’s struggle as they are stalked by sound-sensitive creatures that have invaded Earth. A Quiet Place Part II (written and directed by Krisinski) saw the family forced out of their home and searching for safety.
The most recent film in the franchise was last year’s spinoff/prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, directed by Michael Sarnoski, who penned the script along with Krasinski and Bryan Woods. This prequel took us back to the beginning of the alien invasion as New York City is thrown into chaos. It stars Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn. Watch it now on Prime Video.
A Franchise That’s Making A Lot of Noise
With four films already out, the franchise has already made an incredible $900 million at the worldwide box office. It appears likely that the upcoming fourth film will solidify the movies as a billion-dollar franchise. To put that into perspective, so far only five horror franchises have surpassed $1 billion: The Exorcist, Saw, Final Destination, and Halloween.
While the cast and plot have not been formally announced, we do have a release date. A Quiet Place Part III will invade theaters on July 9, 2027.
