Indie horror legend Larry Fessenden has wrapped filming on his upcoming monster movie, Larry Fessenden’s Trauma Or, Monsters All. This new film is a sequel that mashes up the worlds of three of his previous works: the 1995 vampire tale Habit, the 2019 Frankenstein riff Depraved, and the 2023 werewolf film Blackout.

According to Fessenden, the film was a “slightly absurd mission” to bring his existential takes on these classic monsters into a contemporary story. He stated that he hopes the film will feel “both familiar and provocative.” The production took place quietly on and off over three months in upstate New York.

“It was a slightly absurd mission to present my existential take on these monsters in a contemporary mash-up, but I enjoyed the challenge and I hope the film will feel both familiar and provocative,” Fessenden said in a statement, which also shared that he is “a lifelong fan of Universal Monster classics and the powerful messages about us that they can convey.”

The movie brings back the lead actors from the three previous films. Larry Fessenden reprises his role as Sam from Habit. Alex Breaux returns as Adam from Depraved. And Alex Hurt revives his role as Charley from Blackout.

The plot brings these three iconic ghouls together under one roof, weaving an “unexpectedly humanist and uncanny tale.” The cast also includes Laëtitia Hollard, Aitana Doyle, and several returning actors from Fessenden’s past films, such as Addison Timlin and Barbara Crampton. Also joining the cast are Laëtitia Hollard (“The Pitt”), Aitana Doyle (“If That Mockingbird Don’t Sing”)

This marks Fessenden’s eighth time in the director’s chair, and he also produced the film for Glass Eye Pix, alongside Gaby Leyner, James Felix McKenney, and Tilson Allen-Merry. The indie legend has also appeared in over one hundred films, creating an epic legacy.

As soon as the premiere date is announced for Larry Fessenden’s Trauma Or, Monsters All, we’ll let you know.
