Shudder has secured the rights to Honey Bunch, the new psychological gothic thriller from the acclaimed filmmaking duo of Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli. The announcement comes ahead of its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Variety reports.
This marks the second collaboration between the filmmakers and Shudder. They last teamed up for the critically acclaimed debut feature, Violation. Honey Bunch had its world premiere at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival and is set to screen at Fantastic Fest later this month.
A Story of Fragmented Memories and Dark Motives
Honey Bunch stars Grace Glowicki as Diana, a woman who wakes from a coma with fragmented memories. In an attempt to recover, she and her husband (Ben Petrie) seek out experimental treatments at a remote facility. As the procedures intensify, their marriage is pushed to its limits. And Diana begins to question her husband’s true motives. The directors describe the film as exploring the “terrifying, painful, yet intimately rewarding struggles” of a relationship.
Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Kate Dickie (The Witch), India Brown (Invasion), and Julian Richings (Beau is Afraid) round out the cast.
A Highly Anticipated Film
Becky Yeboah, Sims-Fewer, and Mancinelli produce. The executive producers include Niv Fichman and Fraser Ash. XYZ Films and IPR.VC financed the film. Gotto negotiated the deal for Shudder, Nate Bolotin, and Pip Ngo for XYZ Films.
“HONEY BUNCH delivers high-stakes suspense while surprising with a tender love story that demonstrates a skilled balancing act,” said SVP of Shudder Acquisitions and Production Emily Gotto. “Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli have proven they know how to deliver unforgettable storytelling, and with their sophomore feature they deliver an experience that’s both emotional and entertaining, anchored by incredible performances. We can’t wait for audiences to experience it.”
