The epic fantasy adventure continues as Netflix’s “The Witcher” returns for its highly anticipated fourth season. Season 4 sees Liam Hemsworth step into the role of the beloved monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia. He replaces Henry Cavill, the former series lead.
Season four will draw its storylines from Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher series: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
This season picks up after the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three. The new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, traversing the war-ravaged Continent apart from each other. If they can lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving and finding one another again.
“The Witcher” Season 3 ended on a devastating note. Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer were separated after suffering a defeat at the hands of the formidable mage Vilgefortz. Geralt begins a desperate journey to save Ciri, accompanied by Jaskier and the skilled archer Milva. However, they pursue a dangerous decoy rather than the true Ciri. After Ciri finds herself in a desperate situation and ultimately joins a group of young criminals known as “The Rats.”
With a new actor taking up the sword and the leading trio scattered across a Continent plunged into war, “The Witcher” Season 4 promises to be a valid “baptism of fire” when it returns to Netflix on Thursday, October 30th.
