Get ready, “American Horror Story” fans, because Season 13 is already shaping up to be one of the biggest and most star-studded installments in the franchise’s history! FX is pulling out all the stops, not only bringing back an incredible lineup of fan-favorite veterans but also adding a pop culture icon to the mix.
The most significant new piece of casting news is the addition of global superstar Ariana Grande. This marks a reunion for Grande with the series’ creators, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It’s been nearly a decade since she last worked with the duo on their series, “Scream Queens.” Now, she’s diving into the darker world of “American Horror Story.”
But the real scream-worthy news is the astonishing number of beloved “AHS” regulars returning for Season 13. This reunion cast includes actors who have been absent from the show for years, leading to massive fan speculation.
The powerhouse lineup features Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Kathy Bates. The series will also star Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman.
The news was officially dropped on the Ryan Murphy Productions Instagram page. He revealed a video featuring a black screen, the cast members’ names in the signature spooky American Horror Story font. Vera Lynn’s cover of “I’ll Be Seeing You” plays in the background.
The casting of Jessica Lange is particularly noteworthy, as the four-time Emmy winner hasn’t graced the “AHS“ screen since Season 8, Apocalypse, back in 2018. The same goes for Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, and Gabourey Sidibe. Meanwhile, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson last terrified audiences in Season 10, Double Feature, back in 2021.
The sheer volume of returning veterans—many of whom starred together in Season 3, 2013’s Coven—has set the rumor mill churning. Fans are speculating that Season 13 may be a direct sequel or return to the world of the witches.
The show has a history of bringing back old characters and storylines; most famously, Season 8, Apocalypse, served as a highly anticipated crossover between Season 3, Coven, Season 1, Murder House, and Season 5, Hotel.
With Lange, Bassett, Bates, Sidibe, Roberts, and Paulson all involved, the possibility of the witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy making another terrifying return feels stronger than ever. Either way, this monumental reunion promises a season packed with the star power and dramatic complexity that fans have been craving.
Murphy has a long history of creating chilling series. His latest is the haunting series “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” which just arrived on Netflix and continues to rank on the streamer’s “top 10” list.
