The legend is back! Steven Spielberg is returning to the stars with his highly anticipated sci-fi epic, Disclosure Day! And baby, we are totally here for it!

This project is a huge deal because it marks Spielberg’s big return to the UFO genre. We’re talking about the man who gave us Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, and Saving Private Ryan. However, it seems aliens have always been close to his heart, as evidenced by E.T., War of the Worlds, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

A Cast That Is Out of This World

Spielberg has assembled an absolute powerhouse ensemble for this one. Seriously, look at this lineup: Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. That’s a lot of incredibly talented stars.

The “Dream Team” Script

What makes Disclosure even more exciting is the writing credits. Spielberg is co-writing the screenplay with his longtime collaborator, David Koepp (Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds). When these two team up, you know the story is going to be deep, emotional, and absolutely massive.

What’s the Vibe?

While they are keeping some plot points locked in a vault, we know the film is moving away from the “aliens attacking the planet” trope. Instead, it focuses on the emotional depth and ethical dilemmas of humanity’s encounter with something from beyond the stars. It asks: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?”

Disclosure Day (originally titled The Dish) has already completed principal photography. Filming took place throughout early 2025 in New York and New Jersey, concluding in late May. Now, it’s all about the post-production polish to ensure that the film is perfect.

Landing This Summer

The first trailer has landed, revealing a ton of action, strange events, and a lot of panic. It appears the world has fallen into chaos.

Universal Pictures is dropping this one right in the middle of the Summer 2026 blockbuster season, on June 12, and honestly, we can’t wait to see what Spielberg has discovered in the deep reaches of space.
