The world “ended” five years ago, but for the Garrity family, the nightmare is just getting its second wind. The final trailer for Greenland 2: Migration just dropped, and it’s official: Gerard Butler is back, and he is still having the worst decade ever.

We’re only days away from the premiere, and if this footage is any indication, the sequel is trading the “falling rocks” of the first film for a trek through a literal hellscape.

Five Years Later: Out of the Frying Pan…

In the 2020 hit, we watched John Garrity (Butler) fight through chaos to get his wife, Allison (Morena Baccarin), and son, Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis), into a secret bunker just as a “planet-killer” comet slammed into Earth.

The sequel picks up exactly where the dust (and radiation) settles. Life in the bunker was supposed to be the “win,” but five years later, resources are bone-dry, and the air is turning toxic. The Garritys are forced to leave their sanctuary to trek across a decimated European wasteland toward a rumored safe zone in southern France: The Clarke Crater.

A Triple Threat to Survival

This isn’t just a road trip through some ruins; it’s a suicide mission. The Garritys are facing a “triple threat” of apocalyptic hazards. The comet didn’t just break the ground; it broke the atmosphere. Expect “radioactive storms” and freak lightning that makes a regular thunderstorm look like a light show. Europe has become a shattered, frozen desert where the climate is as deadly as the impact was. In a world with zero laws and even fewer snacks, other people are the biggest wild card.

The Dream Team is Back

Director Ric Roman Waugh returns to bring his signature “boots-on-the-ground” grit to the sequel. The cast we love is all here, with Amber Rose Revah (The Punisher) and William Abadie (Emily in Paris) joining the fray as the world tries to figure out how to be human again.

Coming Soon (Like, Really Soon)

The wait for the next chapter in this survival epic is almost over. Get ready! This edge-of-your-seat film lands in theaters on Friday, January 9, 2026. Need more convincing to watch Greenland 2: Migration? Check out the previously released clips.
