If you thought dealing with a “troubled teen” was hard, try dealing with one that’s literally possessed by a demon.
Level 33 Entertainment is bringing the heat this winter with The Containment, a supernatural horror film set to terrify audiences in the U.S. and Canada this January. If you like your exorcism movies with a side of “the Church is hiding something terrifying,” this one is for you.
Not Your Average Sunday School
Gia Hunter (who you’ll also see in this month’s other big horror hit, Primate) stars as Caroline Cobbler. Caroline is dealing with a lot—specifically, the tragic death of her father. But her grief attracts something much worse than sadness.
She becomes the host for a dark, sinister force. Naturally, her mom panics and calls in the Church to handle the situation. But as the ritual begins, they realize that the demon isn’t the only thing they should be afraid of. There’s a horror buried within the “containment” process itself that’s way deadlier than the possession.
The Squad
The film is a family affair behind the scenes, directed and produced by the Zagha Boys (Jack and Yossy Zagha Kababie). The cast includes Hunter, Jack Gouldbourne (Fighting with My Family), Fernanda Romero (The Eye), and Charlotte Hunter.
Why It’s Worth Your Popcorn
Acquired from the horror heavyweights at Black Mandala, The Containment is being teased as a claustrophobic. It’s an intense experience that flips the “possessed” trope on its head. Instead of focusing solely on the demon, it examines the dark corners of the institutions that claim they can save us.
The Details
The Containment is set to leave you on the edge of your seat when it arrives in theaters on January 23, 2026.
