If you’re tired of the usual rom-com sap and want your Valentine’s Day with a side of “slasher,” you’re in luck. Heart Eyes has officially landed on Paramount+, ditching the boxes of chocolate for a tasty bloodbath.
Valentine’s Day, But Make It Deadly
Forget the roses; this flick is all about the thorns. The story follows the “Heart Eyes Killer,” a masked psychopath who has spent years turning the most romantic day of the year into a local nightmare. No couple is safe, and this year, the rampage is reaching a fever pitch.
A Powerhouse Horror Squad
What makes Heart Eyes a must-watch isn’t just the gore—it’s the DNA behind the camera. Director Josh Ruben, the guy who gave us the clever werewolf mystery Werewolves Within, is at the helm. He knows exactly how to mix genuine chills with a sharp, dark wit.
The script is a collaboration among Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy (interview). Since these guys are the brains behind Happy Death Day and It’s a Wonderful Knife, they’ve basically mastered the art of the “holiday slasher.”
The “Target” List
The cast features plenty of familiar faces who are—let’s be honest—probably about to have a terrible time. Heart Eyes stars Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer), Devon Sawa (Chucky, Final Destination), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), and Michaela Watkins and Gigi Zumbado.
If you missed the theatrical run or its streaming release last year, now is the time to grab your popcorn and stream it from the safety of your couch.
